Internacional.- Desde que apreció la enfermedad Covid 19 causada por el letal Coronavirus, ya el hombre se ha abocado en buscar el antídoto contra ella y detener su secuela de muerte. A la fecha hasta 100 posibles vacunas candidatas para el COVID-19 están siendo desarrolladas por equipos de investigación y biotecnología en todo el mundo.
La compañía farmacéutica alemana Biontech, que está trabajando con Estados Unidos, dijo este 29 de abril que ha comenzado a probar una vacuna potencial para el nuevo coronavirus en voluntarios. y que son 12 participantes quienes han recibido la dosis de vacuna BNT162 desde el 23 abril.
En el siguiente paso, comenzará a aumentar la dosis en 200 participantes de 18 a 55 años. La compañía dijo que espera recibir la aprobación regulatoria para comenzar los ensayos en los Estados Unidos pronto. Aunque todavía falta más de un año para una vacuna segura y eficaz, los investigadores se apresuran a reutilizar los medicamentos existentes y las terapias no farmacológicas, así como a probar fármacos experimentales prometedores que ya estaban en ensayos clínicos.
Hasta 100 posibles vacunas candidatas para el COVID-19 están siendo desarrolladas por equipos de investigación y biotecnología en todo el mundo, y al menos cinco de ellas están en pruebas preliminares en personas en lo que se conoce como ensayos clínicos de Fase 1.

El equipo de la Universidad de Oxford en el Reino Unido dosificó a los primeros voluntarios en un ensayo de su vacuna, llamada «Chadox1 nCoV-19», mientras que la Leukocare, de Alemania, y Univercells, de Bélgica, dijeron que estaban trabajando juntos en otra posible inyección y que tenían como objetivo iniciar los ensayos en unos meses. El GSK del Reino Unido y el Sanofi de Francia han anunciado un acuerdo similar para desarrollar una vacuna COVID-19, cuyos ensayos comienzan en el segundo semestre del año. Caretas 30 abril 2020
